Box Piles

Sheet piles can easily be built together to form box piles with a wide range of characteristics.   
Moment of inertia and section modulus of a box pile wall are greatly increased and therefore
resistance towards bending is much stronger and it is able to take high vertical loads.

 
Z Section
Continuous form of the web and location of the interlock symmetrically on each side of the neutral axis provides positive influence on the section modulus on the Z section.		 U Section
Symmetrical form of the single element made U section convenient for re-use or even applied as permanent solution.		 OΩ Section

Combined Wall

HZ/AZ System

 The HZ/AZ wall is a combined system incorporating:

  • HZ king piles as structural supports
  • AZ sheet piles as intermediary elements
  • Special connectors (RH, RZD, RZU)


The HZ king piles fulfill two different structural functions:

  • Retaining members for soil and hydrostatic pressures
  • Bearing piles for vertical loads.

All combinations are based on the same principle: structural supports comprising 1 or 2 HZ king pile sections alternating with intermediary double AZ sheet pile sections. The intermediary sheet piles have a soil-retaining and load-transferring function and may be shorter than the HZ primary piles. Depending on the structural combination and steel grade adopted, bending moments up to 9000 kNm/m can be safely resisted.

The outstanding feature of the HZ/AZ combined wall system is the extensive range of possible combinations using the entire AZ sheet pile offer including the new wide intermediary AZ steel sheet piles AZ 13-770 and AZ 18-700 as well as rolled-up and rolled-down AZ sections.
